Yarnalong: Dave & A State of Seige

Knitting: Dave socks by Rachel Coopey in Naturally Waikiwi

Damn I hate these socks. I think it’s the navy. Or maybe it’s because this is the fourth time I’ve knitted the Dave socks and I’m bored with them. Whatever the reason, I can’t wait to be done with them!

Reading: A State of Seige by Janet Frame

Earlier this year, an Australian friend asked for a recommendation for a good New Zealand novel. I drew a complete blank. The only New Zealand (not young adult) novel I’ve read is The Bone People (which I picked up thinking it was The Lovely Bones and didn’t realise until I was several chapters in and no one had died). Fortunately my Facebook friends are far better read than I and provide a whole list of books!

I decided it was time to read more local content, so I picked up A State of Siege at a secondhand bookstore and am making it my New Years Resolution to read at least some of the books my friends have recommended. The full list can be seen on Goodreads.

See what everyone else is knitting and reading over on the original Yarnalong.
