Knitting: A Hap for Harriet by Kate Davies in Fyberspates Gleem Lace
I’m making pretty good progress on my hap, although not, of course, as good as the super speedy Sharon. But I made my peace with that on Friday when I realised I’d rather finish a little later than risk an injury!
I’ve finished the increases and am now working across the straight bit.
Reading: The Cabaret of Plants by Richard Mabey
I’ve made less progress with Cabaret, mainly because I got bogged down in the introduction, which was very big picture (not my sort of thing). But now it’s down to the detail, I’m finding it easier.
It’s not quite a plant history as I thought, but more structured around themes – for example, in the chapter dedicated to yews, it discusses the different theories about how old yews are and why so many are found in churchyards in England. And then it turns it all on its head and asks if the yews really care that we’re here?
See what everyone else is knitting and reading over on the original Yarnalong.
